Most people communicate by cell phone today. You can make calls on them, send texts, receive emails, or even surf online. Keep reading on to learn many tips on cell phones.

Restart your phone occasionally so you can rid it of memory from web sites. This can boost the performance of your phone if done every couple days.

TIP! Remember to restart your cellphone every now and then to remove memory stored from programs such as Twitter and Facebook. This will help your phone to perform its best.

There is no need to update to a new phone so quickly. It is not always worthwhile. While companies put new phone models out frequently, there are not always too many changes. Look for a few reviews about a new phone prior to buying it so you know whether or not it’s a great idea to update. If you upgraded within the last year or two, you may be okay.

You don’t have to pay for information. There are alternatives to these high charge services. Try the free service at 1-800-411-FREE. After a brief ad, you can receive the information you require.

Is battery on your cell phone draining very fast? It could be because of a weak signal if that’s the case. Your battery life can be drained because of a bad signal. Turn it off if you do not need it to preserve the battery.

TIP! If your phone falls into water, never make an assumption that it can’t be used any more. Take the battery out and put it into a bowl full of rice.

Keep an eye out for extended warranties. These just cost you more money. Find a warranty that protects you in the event your phone dies the first year. Additionally, you may want to upgrade your phone before the extended warranty even runs out.

Prior to purchasing a smartphone, be sure it is what you need. These phones are pricey, but they do many things. Therefore, you should choose it over a basic phone only if you need it. Smartphones not only cost more up front, but require a higher fee each month. So, it might not prove your wisest course of action if you only use phones to talk.

Do not have your cell phone around any water. It is very common for people to damage their phones by getting them wet. So, to protect your phone, never place it near water. Even if you are convinced it will never happen to you, accidents always happen.

TIP! If you own a smartphone, you probably use it fairly consistently throughout the day. Be sure to restart your smartphone on a regular basis.

If you only want a phone to make calls, don’t get a smartphone. It seems like most people have smartphones these days, but it is usually because people use their phones to send emails or surf the Internet. Save yourself some cash and get a regular cell phone if you just want to talk on it.
