You are going to try your hand at organic gardening. Your timing could not be better. The following tips and tricks will help prepare you for organic gardening success.

You will need to properly lay sod. Prior to laying the sod, prepare your soil. Remove the weeds, then break up the soil into fine tilth. Compact the soil firmly but lightly, and make certain it is flat. Moisten the soil thoroughly. Lay the sod in rows, and make sure the joints do not overlap. Tamp down the sod so it has a flat and even surface, then using some extra soil, fill the gaps between. Water the sod everyday for the first two weeks until the roots grow enough.

TIP! The quick and drastic change in the weather conditions can shock your plants and cause them to die. It’s important that you gradually change temperate conditions over time, so that your plants can adjust.

Use climbers if you want to cover any fences or walls. Many climbers can cover the wall or fence in as little as one growing season. They may grow up through some existing shrubs and trees, and can even be worked to grow around an arbor. There are natural climbers, which use tendrils or stems to wrap around any given surface, while others must be tied with a string or rope. Wisteria, jasmine, honeysuckle, clematis and some rose varieties are good choices for climbers.

If you have a vegetable garden, it is crucial they are kept in a spot with at least six hours of sun each day. Many vegetables need about this much sun to grow quickly. This is the same for many varieties of flowers.

Mix the grounds of coffee in soil that has a lot of alkaline. Basically, the grounds resupply the soil with acid. This is one of the most inexpensive ways to achieve this result. The greens and vegetables need the proper balance and will grow bigger and stronger with the right mix.

TIP! Bulbs are a great option for people who want to enjoy spring and summer flowers. These are hearty choices, choices that will reward you for years despite the little effort that is involved in their care.

Try “boiling” weeds to get rid of them. Boiling water is a safe herbicide which won’t damage your garden or your body. Literally pour the water on the weeds, avoiding any wanted plants near them, and watch the weeds die over time. This can cause enough damage to the roots of any plant to kill it.

Garden for fall colors. That doesn’t have to be, however. Autumn is the most colorful season of all, foliage-wise. Many trees display a range of the vivid colors of fall, from bright yellow to rich crimson, including maple, beech, and dogwood. Cotoneaster, barberry and hydrangea can provide vibrant color if you are considering shrubs for your garden.

When gardening, remember to take care of your knees! Bending over from a standing position is something many people cannot do. You should kneel while tending to your plants for the sake of reducing stress to your spine. Many types of horticulture pads and cushions are available so that avid gardeners can kneel for longer periods of time without experiencing knee pain.
