5 Fashion Brands That Recently Joined the Home Decor Game (& Are Killing It)

Lately we’ve spotted an interesting trend: long-standing fashion brands getting into the home space. While brands like Missoni, Fendi, and Ralph Lauren have been in the game for a while, a new generation of fashion houses have begun dipping their toes in the waters of home decor. Here are five of the most notable.

These Homes Prove that There’s Always Room…for More Books

We love libraries, and we love a design that takes advantage of unusual circumstances, and when those things come together, well, that’s just beautiful. These seven home libraries might be a little different than others you’ve seen before, but they manage to squeeze in lots of books—and look lovely while doing it.

10 Truly Breathtaking Pools (Because Looking Is Free!) — Dwell

Summer over, which means I can’t write any pool posts for a while, so I thought I’d squeeze in one more while I still can. And this time I’ve decided to go for broke. These 10 pools are far from your average backyard watering hole, and they may be a bit beyond the reach of the average homeowner — but they sure are pretty to look at, and looking is free.

The Gold Standard: 10 Outrageously Beautiful Things

The legendary King Midas was blessed (or cursed, depending on how you look at it) with a condition where everything he touched turned to gold. To me, that sounds like a bit much — I’d settle for just one or two gold things per room. Or even brass things, because brass is a beautiful metal that replicates the luxe, yellowy shine of gold without all the budget-busting tendencies. For the modest, minimalist Midas-touch lover, I rounded up the following stunning spaces where just a few gold (or brass) elements take things to the next level.

13 Kitchens with Showstopping Sinks

When’s the last time you got excited about a sink? The sink, especially the kitchen sink, is an object generally known more for its function than its beauty. In fact, I think you could say that they steal the show — a testament to the power of design to elevate even the humblest objects.

Double the Fun: The Shower That’s the Secret to a Happy Marriage

Confession: I have never had the pleasure of showering in a bathroom with more than one showerhead, but I have it on good authority (that is, on the authority of various members of the Apartment Therapy team) that, if you enjoy showering with another person, two showerheads (and two sets of controls) is the way to go. This way, no one person is hogging the stream, and you can set the water at just the intensity and temperature that you like. Also, you’ll never have to worry about being late to work because your partner was hogging the shower.

A Tiny Home in Rome With an Unusual Floor Plan & Luxe Look — Yellowtrace

The unit’s kitchen, where luxurious materials abound.

(Image credit: Giorgio Possenti for Massimo Adario Architects )

The sort of aesthetic that we associate with the words “bachelor pad”—dark colors, dark woods, lots of chrome and leather—doesn’t usually appeal to me. But there’s something about this bachelor pad that I just cannot resist. All the finishes—the dark marble backsplash, the wood-paneled walls, the brass that frames the kitchen doorway—are so luxurious that I wish I could reach out and touch them through my computer screen. The louche, ’70s vibe is so different from the careful, minimalist interiors that are current in interior design right now, and yet still somehow so cool.

Dream Home Status: 5 of the Most Beautiful Brownstones in NYC — City Style

No New York building type is more iconic than the brownstone, the distinguished townhome fronted in the namesake brown sandstone. And while their exteriors are certainly beautiful, transforming certain streets in the West Village and Brooklyn into a photographer’s dream, their insides can be just as intriguing, too. If you love tall ceilings and brightly lit rooms and intricate architectural details, let these five abodes take you back to a time when even the homes of everyday people had a touch of grandeur.
