Have We Reached Peak Moroccan?

It’s hard to pinpoint the exact moment everyone became obsessed with all things Moroccan—poufs, lanterns, tagines, tea tables. But when it comes to textiles, the picture is a little bit clearer. A few years ago, interiors with Beni Ourain rugs started popping up in shelter magazines (and on websites like this one!). Then in a watershed design moment, if you will, West Elm released the Souk Rug back in 2012 or so, and it was on.

Decorating with Crystals: Totally WooWoo, or Something Worth Considering?

You’d have to be living under a rock (pun very much intended!) to be unaware of how popular geodes, gems and crystals have become in interiors. If I had to say where it all started, I’d point the finger at agate, which started popping up on the reg about five years ago in slice and slab form as coasters , trivets and even tabletops. Fast forward to now, and crystals of all types—quartz, amethyst, citrine and the list goes on—are becoming pretty common decorative accents, and I’m not sure how I feel about it.

Follow This Great Article About Furniture To Help You

Have you spent hours shopping for furniture but been unable to find what you want? How frustrating is it to settle for something that clashes with your decor? Would you like to become a more effective shopper? This piece is full of tips, so keep reading.

You always want to check the stability of any furniture you are considering buying. Sometimes, the furniture appears to exhibit quality and a great condition, but often this isn’t the case. Older furniture is usually plagued by two common problems – dry rust and rot.

When shopping for furniture for your living room, look for neutral colors, especially tans, grey, or black. When you select neutral furniture, it is a lot easier to change the look of a room by changing accessories or paint colors. That lets you change things for the seasons, for a great price.

Check out the legs of the piece you are considering. They must be heavy, solid and joined with the frame. Non-wood legs will scratch the floor and break easily. They will fail if they’re only nailed on.

If you are purchasing a sofa with a pattern, make sure the fabric is well-aligned. You may find the pattern askew at the seams if an item of upholstered furniture is cheap. Since you’re spending a bit of money for a new sofa, make sure that you’re getting one that’s aligned perfectly. If the quality of the tailoring seems poor, select a different sofa.

Consider furniture that is solid and durable. Avoid chests or drawers with pressed wood and go with those made of solid wood. The back should be made of plywood instead of that cheap composite or cardboard. Really take your time inspecting the furniture to ensure it is exactly what you want and well built.

When looking for furniture, opt for pieces that are made of durable material. This will save you money in the long run. Furniture is expensive, so choose items that will last. Go with materials that tend to last longer, such as metal or hardwood.

Always check online to begin your furniture shopping. While this isn’t a traditional way to purchase furniture, many online stores have better prices than physical stores. Many also offer free delivery. You could save a bit of money by shopping online therefore, you should always check it out.

The furniture in your home is what makes it more appealing. With quality furnishings, your home can look its best. You are now set on the road to being a great shopper, so get out there and put your new found knowledge to good use.

Step Up Your Storage: My Favorite Way to Organize Blankets & Throws (& More!) — Currently Obsessed

Anytime I can share a completely stylish way to store everyday items, I jump at the opportunity. Though certainly not a novel idea, using a simple rung ladder (either vintage or modern) is actually one of my favorite ways to organize blankets and throws in a living room or bedroom. They take up hardly any floor space the way a basket can, and turn your soft goods into decor all their own. Not only that, but they also work great in bathrooms to hold towels, magazines, even hooks with wire baskets. Clip a clamp light on one, hang your jewelry off of it…the sky is the limit with these versatile gems. Take a look at nine examples of these ladders in action.

Make It Beautiful: How To Style the Perfect Entry Table — Surface Style

The entry in your home is a lot of things: it’s the first taste of sweet freedom when returning from a hard day’s work; it’s your landing zone for odds and ends like keys, mail and dog leashes; it’s where you do your “Did I remember everything?” check before heading out the door. Oh yeah, and the foyer is the only space that absolutely every guest sees of your abode, no matter how far you let them venture in. Your entryway, regardless of how large or basically non-existent it is, should be functional and beautiful. It should provide a glimpse into what’s shakin’ decor-wise in the rest of your living quarters.
