Find Your Best Bedroom Layout with a Queen-Sized Bed — Layout Lessons

xx

In this space planning series, Layout Lessons, we’ll be exploring layout options for different bed sizes within various shaped bedrooms because things can get tricky sometimes. We tapped Eleanor Büsing, a contributing writer for Apartment Therapy and an interior designer in her own right, for her expert opinion on the matter. To kick things off, let’s start with the classic Queen.

We spend approximately one third of our lives sleeping, so it goes without saying that our bedrooms are an important room in our homes. They’re also storage areas and often working spaces as well, creating layout issues. Furthermore, not every size and style of bed works for every lifestyle, and neither do they necessarily work with the space in our homes.

How a Decorating Duo Would Spend $200 to Update a Bedroom — Shop Like a Decorator

We’ve heard it time and again: the bedroom is often the last place you tackle decorating because it’s behind closed doors (and it seems more practical to devote your energy and dollars to the more public areas of your home). However, just because you’re not ready to take a deep dive into reimagining your sleeping quarters doesn’t mean there isn’t something you can do to spruce up the place in the meantime…sort of like a pre-makeover.

Our Favorite New Bedroom Trend is Larger Than Life

Beds have been around for thousands of years , so you’d think that we had pretty much seen everything, design-wise. But that’s where you’d be wrong. After the invention of rolled steel made modern bedframes possible, the design of the bed really took off. It anchors the bed in the room, gives it prominence, makes it a comforting feature. So it is, perhaps, unsurprising that there’s a recent trend towards making headboards bigger and bigger. I, for one, am all for it. Let’s take a look.

Instantly Spruce Up Your Bedroom: Headboards Under $300 — Annual Guide 2017

The most prominent element of your bedroom is, naturally, the bed, and the headboard is the most prominent element of your bed. If you don’t have one, you should perhaps consider it, because nothing makes a bed (and the whole bedroom) quite like a great headboard. In the past, a bed was a bit of an all-or-nothing proposition, but now, you can buy a headboard, mount it to your already existing bedframe, and call it a day. (In fact, for folks like me who are prone to kicking off the covers during the night, the footboard-less bed might be a bit of an advantage.) And the headboard doesn’t even need to be that expensive — you can transform your bedroom without a huge outlay of cash. Case in point? These 10 stylish options, all under $300.
