In the world of organic gardening, there are plenty of great resources available to both new and experienced organic gardeners alike. There are many e-guides, books, videos, and other resources available. This set of tips contains some of the best advice for helping a good organic gardener become a great organic gardener.

Plants Outside

TIP! Trying to shovel through clay soil can be extremely difficult and tiresome. To make working in clay easier, rub the shovel with floor or car wax and then buff it with a cloth.

Always allow your plants to adapt gradually to any changes in light conditions, temperatures or soils, if you do not, you might shock them and cause them to die. Start by placing your plants outside for a few hours only. Slowly, day after day, you can leave your plants outside for a little longer. By the end of the week, your plants should be ready to make the big move with no problem!

A good way to ensure that your seeds sprout effectively is to start them in smaller pots and then transplant them once they reach the seedling stage. Your plants will be more likely to survive if you do this. This also helps tighten time between plantings. You can plant the seedlings once you have removed the old plants.

Analyze the soil before you even get started with working in a garden. For a tiny fee, a soil analysis may be done, and based on the results, the soil can support a growing garden by you enriching it as necessary. Ask about this service at a local university or the county Cooperative Extension office to improve the soil and insure fruitful crops.

TIP! Start your plant in pots before you plant them in your garden. This boosts the chance that the plants can survive to adulthood.

Don’t over-water your plants, and keep the soil around them aerated. Moisture can be a magnet for disease and parasites on your plants. Fungi commonly afflict a number of plants. Sprays and liquids exist that are perfect for killing the fungi, but be sure you use it on the area before the fungi actually appear.

In order to start the best garden possible, remember that you should always start with the seeds and not pre-purchased plants. Once the plant is healthy enough, replant it in your garden with the appropriate type of soil. Plastic used in nurseries normally end up in landfills. For an garden that helps the environment, plant seeds directly in the garden’s soil or purchase plants grown in organic packaging.

Fertilize your garden. Manure is probably the best fertilizer. Choose a commercial product to reduce the risks of pathogen exposure. Although there are plenty of fertilizer choices, don’t be concerned with which one you use; just be sure to use one.

TIP! To grow properly, plants need adequate levels of CO2. The majority of plants thrive when they are exposed to a high level of carbon dioxide.

Now you know a little more on how you can be a successful organic gardener. There is a ton of information you should know, and you also should know how to use it. Use the tips here, do some further research, and try a few ideas of your own. You can enjoy a lovely organic garden quicker than you think.
