Regular tending is a necessity for any garden. It is particularly important for the organic garden. This is where you need to think smart about organic horticulture. This will make the fruits and vegetables in your garden healthier and taste better. So, take heed of this advice so that your organic garden is the one that shines.

Find some plants that will give you a higher yield. In most circumstances, a cold-tolerant or disease-resistant hybrid will have a higher yield when compared to a more traditional variety.

TIP! Lay sod properly. Before laying the sod, have your soil prepared.

Consider starting your plants in pots and then planting the seedlings in your garden. This increases the chance that your plants will survive to adulthood. It also allows you to tighten up the time periods between plantings. The seedlings are reading for planting immediately after you remove older plants.

Fall edibles are a wonderful addition to your garden. A hollowed out pumpkin can become a festive container for kale and lettuce. After cutting an opening and removing the meat and seeds from inside the pumpkin, use Wilt-Pruf, sprayed throughout the inside and cut edges, and prevent rot from occurring. You can now use it to plant in, as you would a pot.

Prior to planting your garden, devise a plan. Use this to remind you where certain things were planted, later when they start sprouting. In addition, your small plants or groups of plants that are limited in number won’t become lost if you have a large garden.

TIP! Clay soil is hard and will also stick to a shovel, making it difficult to work with. Get better results in clay by rubbing car wax or floor wax onto the shovel, then buff off and dig.

If you are a first time gardener, it is important that you follow all of the instructions on all of your tools and chemicals. You might end up damaging your plants or getting a skin irritation. Stick to the rules and safeguard your health.

Identify a plant that will be the most prominent object of the landscape. Any great garden design involves using a focal point to grab someone’s attention and keep it there. The best focal points are those plants that really stand out from those that are adjacent.

If you have a problem with your dog disturbing your garden, you can repel him by spraying perfume or other scents on the grass near the edge. By masking the smells he may be attracted to, he should take less interest in the garden plants.

TIP! Think about planting your seeds in indoor pots and then transplanting them to your garden once they become seedlings. They are more likely to survive the transition to adulthood with this method.

If you want to spend more quality time outdoors with your children, why not allowing them to help you with your gardening? Little ones will be more likely to help when they can enjoy the fun of harvesting their own fruit.

If you’re working to build a sustainable organic garden, try leaving a portion of your garden untouched so that the wildlife will be able to thrive. One side effect of this is that where animals thrive, so do birds and insects that help nurture and pollinate plants, which will increase the quality of your garden.

The tips above have shown you that there is a noticeable difference in the quality of produce produced by organic horticulture. It requires a good work ethic, but an organic garden is indeed worth the effort.
