Be cautious of the way all of your personal jewelry gets stored together. For best results, separate different pieces into different boxes, compartments or hooks. Avoid simply piling them on top of each other in a box. This can harm fine and fragile pieces, along with severely tangling necklaces with other pieces.

Before purchasing any diamonds, always compare prices. Look at what you want very closely, and keep that in mind so you can compare it with other diamonds you look at. Be aware that some dealers will use cheap tactics to make a diamond look better than it is.

When you buy a piece of jewelry, inquire about the jeweler’s insurance policy. If something happens to your piece, you can return it to have it replaced or repaired, this is so that. Some jewelers even offer insurance for jewelry pieces that have been misplaced or stolen.

Wait until after your makeup is complete and set before putting on jewelry. Any kind of spare dust or oil will attach itself to your jewelry, so putting it on before makeup will just make it look a little dirty. It is especially important to follow this tip for earrings and necklaces.

You should try to find out whether a gemstone was treated prior to purchasing it. You should discover the way it was treated if it was treated. You will have to treat different gemstones with different kinds of care. For example, you should avoid cleaning a gem that has been treated with a certain solution that could peel off the treatment because this could harm the gem.

Untangle your knotted messes of delicate necklaces and chains. Don’t be tempted to give up on the tangled metal. It’s plastic wrap to the rescue. Put the necklace on the plastic wrap and cover it with a little baby oil. Needles can be used to untangle it. Rinse the necklace off as best you can and gently pat it dry with a soft cloth. Use soap only if it has been approved to not damage your jewelry.
