Most people in our society have heard about the benefits of eating organic, or seen organic products in the grocery store. It is typically easy to identify organic products. It’s usually easy to identify them by the higher price tag and organic labels. Keep reading this article to find some great tips on how to grow an organic garden and stop paying too much at the store.

Try not to cause shock to your plants by gradually changing their conditions and temperature. When starting the transition, leave the plants in the sun for just 1-2 hours. As the week progresses, gradually increase their exposure to the outdoors. After a week’s time, the plants should be fine staying outside.

Choose higher yield plant varieties. Traditional strains are often out-performed by hybrids that have been bred for cold tolerance or disease resistance.

It may be helpful to let your plants begin their life in a pot and to transfer them to your garden when they’re seedlings. Once the plant is hardy enough, plant it in your garden. Seeds can’t always thrive in gardens, and are often eaten by birds. When you remove your mature plants, the next batch of seedlings should be ready.

Do not mow your lawn close to the bottom. If you leave your grass a bit longer, the roots can grow deeper. This results in a lawn that is stronger and less likely to dry out. Short grass tends to have shallow roots, which can cause dried out, brown patches to occur.

TIP! Grow wheat or cat grass around the plants your cat likes nibbling. Alternatively, you can try putting mothballs, citrus peel or anything else with an odor that cats find distasteful in the soil surrounding the plants.

Before you start planting your garden, plan it out. Use this to remind you where certain things were planted, later when they start sprouting. This is also a great way to keep track of all your plants.

Aerate and dry your plants each day. Damp leaves can lead to plant disease and parasites. One parasite you have to watch out for in particular is fungi. You can control fungi with the application of fungicide sprays. However, the area should be treated before you see the onset of any problems.

If you are just starting out, follow all the guidelines and rules on your chemicals and tools. Some of the chemicals in these products can cause skin irritation, or worse, if you fail to take this simple precaution. Directions, especially safety rules, are there for your own good, so make sure you follow instructions on your tools and chemicals to the letter.

TIP! Before you start planting your garden, plan it! That way, if you see your plants beginning to bud but can’t recall what they are, you can refer back to your plan to refresh your memory. It’s also a good way to keep smaller plants from getting swallowed up by the rest of your garden.

Working in your garden is an excellent way to relax yourself. There are many ways to find personal relaxation and peace. Horticulture is easily one of the most relaxing and gratifying ways to spend your extra time. The cost is low and the reward is often high. You will feel great satisfaction by creating your own garden of tranquility.

Growing your garden at home might not be the most convenient thing for you, but you will save a lot of money and always have the confidence that what you’re eating and feeding your family is as fresh and as healthy as possible. Use the tips you’ve learned here and get started on your garden today.
