As a quick horticulture tip, you should seek out accurate information to help you develop the proverbial green thumb. You could spend days searching Internet sites and wandering in bookstores, looking for advice on creating your own garden. You will find that these tips are all you need to start! You can get yourself motivated by reading on.

Plant perennials that are resistant to slug and snail infestations. A plant can be completely demolished overnight by slugs and snails. These pests are especially attracted to tender sprouts and to delicate, soft leaves. There are, however, certain types of perennials that slugs and snails hate. Most of these varieties either have tough leaves or taste unappealing. Consider planting these varieties of perennials to discourage slugs and snails from eating your flowers. Euphorbia and achillea are examples of slug-proof perennials.

TIP! Transform the handles of your tools into convenient measuring devices. Tools with long handles such as hoes and rakes can double as measuring sticks.

When you are tending your garden in the fall, be on the alert for stink bugs. These bugs like to eat beans, peppers, tomatoes, and many kinds of fruits. If they are left in the garden, they can do great damage to your plants, so you should do whatever you can to eliminate them.

Always take the time to get the weeds out of your garden. Weeds steal nutrients from plants, robbing a garden of its potential harvest. To do this, think about using white vinegar. The acid in white vinegar kills weeds. You may also be using plants that need that very same acid. Spray white vinegar onto those troubling weeds.

Soak your seeds in a dark spot during the overnight hours. Drop some seeds into a small glass or other container, and fill it with water. The water will hydrate the sends, giving them a head start once you plant them. The seeds will most likely have a greater chance of maturing and surviving.

TIP! Choose perennials that slugs are not attracted to. A particularly vulnerable plant can be killed by snails and slugs overnight.

You could try to boil weeds if you are trying to remain organic. This is a safe way to eliminate weeds, as this will not damage the soil. All you need to do is apply boiling water right to the weeds you want to get rid of. Be careful not to get any on the plants you want to keep. Boiling water kills weeds by destroying their roots. Weeds won’t be able to survive, never mind grow, with damaged weeds.

Gardening can be an extremely rewarding activity. As you learn more horticulture skills, you will get better at it. You should take all the good information you can get. If you begin by applying the suggestions from this article, the garden of your dreams will be better than you could have ever imagined.
