Are you coveting thy neighbors lawn? Has your neighbor found the secret ingredients that makes their garden an eye-catching feature? Truthfully, there is no super-secret formula for a gorgeous garden. All it requires is knowledge to take proper care of plants. Reading the advice from this article can help you on your path to gardening wisdom.

Many times when digging in clay soil the clay will adhere to the shovel, which will make it much harder to dig. Coat the shovel with floor or car wax, and buff it with a clean rag to make the job a lot easier. This will keep the soil from sticking, and prevent rusting of the tool.

Choose higher yield plant varieties. In many cases, a disease-resistant or cold-tolerant hybrid will produce a higher yield than a traditional variety.

When winter arrives, you could save some plants by placing them inside your house. Your best bet would be try to save the best or most hearty plants. Dig around the roots carefully and transfer the plant to a pot.

Knee Pads

TIP! Starting off your garden with healthy soil can be the best defense against those pesky garden bugs. The healthier the plants you grow, the more resistant they’ll be to illness, fungus, or bugs.

It is a good idea to invest in a good pair of knee pads, made specifically for gardening. They can be very helpful when working close to the ground on low-growth plants. Horticulture can really put a lot of pressure on your knees that will leave you cramped and uncomfortable. A set of quality knee pads designed for gardening can be a world of relief for your central leg joints.

Think about adding some berry-producing evergreens to your landscaping. This will allow your garden to have color, even in the dreary winter months. The American Holly, American Cranberrybush, the Winterberry, and the Common Snowberry help provide color during the winter.

Get a wheelbarrow and a kneeling stool to work in your garden. In order to relieve stress on your knees when gardening, always use a small garden stool to be more comfortable. Also having a garden usually requires moving heavy dirt and objects, so investing in a wheelbarrow is a very sound investment.

TIP! When winter arrives, transfer a few plants into the house for safe storage during the cold weather. Perhaps you can save your most expensive or resistant plants.

Keeping pests out of a vegetable garden can be difficult. You can’t use chemicals as they’re the last thing you want to be eating when you enjoy the fruits of your labor. One way to control horticulture pests is to be vigilant. If you catch them when there are only a few around, you can actually pick them off the plants by hand.

The advice in this article is fairly simple and pretty easy to follow. Just apply the lessons outlined here and assess their effectiveness in your own garden. Pay special attention to the condition of your plants after you implement new techniques. When something doesn’t work, then go ahead and try out new strategies. After some time, your neighbors will be envious of you!
