If you have visions of a healthy, lush, green garden, there are things you should consider on your way to that goal. Cultivating a garden is time consuming, but it is also rewarding. Here are some tips for making it less work and more fun!

You will need to properly lay sod. Get your soil ready before you lay the sod. Pull all the weeds and loosen the soil so the new roots can take easily. Compact the soil firmly but lightly, and make certain it is flat. You then will want to thoroughly wet the soil. Be sure to stagger the rows of sod. The joints should be offset like bricks in a wall. Firm the sod down to form a flat, even surface, and fill in any gaps between the sod with a little soil. After two weeks of daily watering, the sod should be rooted; at this time, it is now safe to walk on it.

TIP! Bulbs planted in the spring can flower all the way into summer. Most bulbs are hardy and require little to no care in order to develop into beautiful perennials that will reappear each and every year.

Start your plant in pots before you plant them in your garden. By allowing them to sprout first, you are increasing the odds of a seedling reaching maturity. You will then be able to lessen the time between planting your seeds. Using this method, you can remove the mature plants, then put the seedlings in their places.

Bring some plants into your home to protect them against winter weather. Perhaps save the most resistant or expensive plants. Remember to be gentle when digging up your plants; carefully dig away from the roots and gently place the plant into a container.

You must be sure to remove all of the weeds that grow in your garden. Weeds can turn a beautiful garden into an eyesore. You might want to think about using white vinegar to do this. White vinegar will definitely kill the weeds! By placing a white vinegar solution in a spray bottle, you can spray the weeds away instead of having to pull them out manually.

TIP! Are fresh mint leaves something you love but cannot stand how quickly they grow all over your garden? That’s why it’s better to place mint in containers rather than letting it have free rein in your garden. You can plant the container into the soil if you want to, but the container will restrict the roots, and make sure that the plant doesn’t run rampant in your garden.

When mowing your lawn, be careful not to cut the grass too far down. By leaving your grass a little higher off the ground, it give the roots a chance to grow deep into the soil which makes the lawn stronger, and that helps keep it from drying out. When you cut the grass too short, the roots are often not deep enough, which causes your lawn to have dry patches of brown, discolored grass.

With these tips, you’re better equipped to grow the most beautiful garden you can imagine. In learning how to create your dream garden, you’ll also be growing as a person. That’s because learning how to nurture your plants will not only help you reach the goal of having a great garden, but it will help you learn to nurture yourself.
