There is no better time than now. You probably have a lot of inquiries on how to start and what to do, but no worries, this article has you covered. Below are several horticulture tips and techniques that you can implement immediately to be a more effective and successful gardener.

Learn the proper way to lay sod. Before you use sod, you need to prepare the soil. Remove any weeds, and break the soil up into a fine tilth. Make sure your soil is flat and compacted. Make sure you work with a moist soil. When laying down sod, create staggered rows with offset joints. Tamp down the sod so it has a flat and even surface, then using some extra soil, fill the gaps between. For the best results, you need to water the sod every day for a two week period. After this time the sod will have rooted into the soil and can be now walked on.

TIP! Plant seeds in pots that have a rich soil to give them a strong start. They are more likely to survive the transition to adulthood with this method.

Clay soil is hard and will also stick to a shovel, making it difficult to work with. Make your shoveling job easier by lightly coating a shovel with a layer of wax, then buffing the surface. Either car wax or floor wax will work just fine. The wax will enable the clay soil to simply slide off the shovel, and will also prevent the shovel from rusting.

If you have a wall or fence that you do not like, plant climbers to mask its appearance. Climbing plants are known to be very versatile, and can help hide any ugly wall or fence, and this often only takes one growing season. They can be trained to grow over an arbor, or through trees and shrubs that are already in the garden. Sometimes the plants will require being tied to supports, but some climbers will attach themselves naturally. You can be sure that varieties such as climbing roses, wisteria, jasmine, clematis and honeysuckle will grow very well.

Bulbs planted in the spring can flower all the way into summer. Bulbs are one of the easiest plants to grow and are hardy perennials that return each year. The types of bulbs you use will determine the time of year your flowers will bloom, giving you the pleasure of blooms from spring to summer, if you plant them right.

TIP! If mildew is forming on your plants, you should not purchase an expensive chemical. Combine baking soda with a small dollop of liquid soap and add it to water.

Start peas inside in a container, rather than planting the seeds outdoors. If you were to plant them inside first, the seeds should germinate better. You will also have hardy seedlings that will be able to resist disease and pests much better. Transplant them outside when they are fully established and able to thrive.

You should now be more knowledgeable about gardening. If you thought you knew everything you needed to know before, you might be surprised how much your knowledge has grown with just a simple article. These tips should help get you going in the right direction so that your garden is extremely successful.
