An organic garden provides you with a much healthier diet. Growing an organic garden does take some planning, though. You may be unsure about how to go about this kind of gardening.

If you want flowers in spring and summer, plant bulbs in the garden. Typically, bulbs are simple to grow, and they’ll grow every single year. Find out which flowers will bloom when and then plant a variety, so that you can have fresh blooms all the way through the spring and summer!

TIP! Shoveling soil that is mostly clay can be difficult because of the hardness of the soil, and because it sticks to the shovel. Coat the shovel with floor or car wax, and buff it with a clean rag to make the job a lot easier.

Vegetables should be planted in an area where they will get a minimum of six hours of daily sunlight. Pretty much any vegetable you plant in your garden requires sunshine for this duration. It allows them to grow in the proper manner and also much faster. This arrangement will also benefit some types of flowers.

Make sure to protect your tender shrubs from the elements. Delicate shrubs that are sitting in pots should be sheltered from the cold weather. Tie together the tops, and then use a sheet or blanket to cover the wigwam loosely. In contrast to wrapping the plant with plastic, this method promotes air circulation, which stops the plant from rotting.

Knee Pads

TIP! Starting off your garden with healthy soil can be the best defense against those pesky garden bugs. Healthy soil encourages vigorous plant growth and makes your garden more resistant to common diseases and insects.

A set of knee pads are a life saver if you’re an avid gardener and a lot of your plants sit close to the ground. Long hours tending your garden can leave your knees sore and achy. Having a pair of excellent knee pads for gardening can help cushion the knees to provide additional comfort.

Aerate and dry your plants each day. If you have excess moisture, this can attract bugs or diseases. One parasite you have to watch out for in particular is fungi. Sprays and liquids exist that are perfect for killing the fungi, but be sure you use it on the area before the fungi actually appear.

Fertilizing is an important step in preparing your garden soil. While a lot of people use manure, it is better to choose fertilizer from a reputable company, as this will reduce the risk of any pathogens getting into your soil. Choosing a specific type of fertilizer is not particularly critical; as long as you’re using fertilizer, you’re improving your soil.

TIP! If powdery mildew appears on your plants, don’t purchase expensive chemical solutions. Try mixing a little liquid soap with some baking soda in water.

Before you start working in your garden, purchase a wheelbarrow and a good kneeling stool. Spending a lot of time near the ground working is very hard on the knees, so a lightweight and portable garden stool will make horticulture more comfortable. Gardeners usually need a wheelbarrow to move the heavy dirt and other objects so they are a good item to buy.

As the article has referenced, organic gardening takes work, research, and effort in order to be successful. For the best results, you need to be dedicated to the work. If you keep all these suggestions in mind, you have taken the right steps towards becoming a successful organic gardener.
