High Scores Arcade has produced two custom 80s-style arcade cabinets based on The Legend of Zelda — a game which never appeared in arcades back in the 80s. Check out the image gallery below for a look at both the drop-dead gorgeous final result of their efforts, and a behind-the-scenes look at how the dual cabinets were constructed.

With Donkey Kong, Nintendo scored it’s first hit in 1981’s arcades. If you are lucky enough to play an original Donkey Kong cabinet — or Popeye, Mario Bros., or Punch-Out!! — you’ll no doubt note the amazing, art-saturated design of the cabinets as being a large part of those game’s charms. High Scores Arcade teamed up with artist Sam Bahman, who built a similar custom Zelda cabinet, to produce their Zelda cabinets to closely resemble Nintendo’s original artistry in their classic cabinets.
